Probably not: Enlarged. The papillae at the back or base of the tongue are known as the circumvallate papillae and tend to be relatively large compared to the other papillae. Most people don't see them because you have to stick your tongue out fairly far to see them. Maybe a yeast infection (thrush, candida) and could improve with a one time Diflucan (fluconazole) tablet (prescription). If is goes away after that, the diagnosis is confirmed, and then it will be important to investigate why are you having yeast infections in your mouth; immune system deficiency, undiagnosed diabetes?
