Is it possible to get cured of aids?

Is it possible to get cured of aids?

No: There has been only one well documented caase of a cure, and it involved bone marrow transplantation with the marrow from a donor who was immune to hiv. This is not a practical way to cure HIV for people who don't need a marrow transplant, but it could lead to other approaches. There is a lot of money and effort being spent on cure research right now. ...Read more

Is there a cure for aids?

Is there a cure for aids?

No cure yet: It's not surprising that there's no cure yet. Hiv is a very complex virus that inserts its own dna into human dna. Even if you eliminate the circulating virus, there's still viral dna that can reactivate. It's also important to note that in the history of medicine, we have cured only one viral disease--hepatitis c--and only very recently. There is hope for a cure, but it won't happen soon. ...Read more

How can I submit my cure for aids?

How can I submit my cure for aids?

Let's think: Please forgive my frankness. Life has taught me about the human capacity for self-deception, especially when we mean only the best. Science is the most cutthroat of all human activities, and if an actual cure existed that was simple enough to a lay person to discover, the nih piranhas would have found it long ago. Get the education you need to join real research ; your dream may yet come true. ...Read more

Why isnt there a cure for aids disease?

Why isnt there a cure for aids disease?

It's complicated: Hiv is a complicated virus and it's exact mechanism of effect on the immune system isn't fully understood. This is all made worse by poor funding of aids research. ...Read more

Are we getting close to find a cure for aids?

Not close yet: I would love to be optimistic and say that we will have a cure soon, but i think the researchers are still missing a key understanding of how HIV and/or how our immune system works or is affected by hiv. Understanding these issues will give us more information on how to combat hiv, likely via vaccination so that we can stimulate our own immune system to recognize and kill HIV everywhere in body. ...Read more

Why is it taking so long to find a cure for AIDS?

Many reasons: There are many technical reasons why it is taking so long to find a cure for AIDS. Vaccines are in development, but HIV hides very well from detection by the immune system. Our current meds can clear HIV from blood, but it hides out in places where the meds can't reach. HIV also damages the immune response so that even if we detect HIV, it cannot clear HIV from the body effectively. ...Read more

Is it possible we actually have a cure? For aids by now?

No: Only one person has ever been cured of HIV infection, and he was cured with a bone marrow transplant using marrow from a donor who was genetically immune to HIV infection. This is clearly not a feasible way to cure HIV infection, but it may lead to more practical advances. ...Read more

If aids researchers were provided with infinite funds how long would it take for a cure?

Tough to say!: I would say that while funding is helpful to finding a cure, what we are missing is key piece(s) of understanding of how the virus works and how it hides from our immune system. We need to understand how our own immune system works as well. There is a lot of vaccine research to understand how to stimulate our own immune system to recognize and kill HIV in every infected cell in the body. ...Read more

I want to know what's the best way to cure aids?

I want to know what's the best way to cure aids?

AIDS can now: be a chronic disease. There is no cure but with the right anti viral treatments, the virus can be suppressed and you can have a near normal immune system. This is very much like treating a chronic disease. Prevention is important to make sure you do not infect others like a sex partner or unborn child. With the new antiviral treatments you can have a long and healthy life. ...Read more

Can you please describe the drugs used to cure aids completly?

No drugs for cure: There are no drugs currently that cures hiv, the virus that causes aids. The drugs that are available are called antiretroviral therapy. These drugs are able to clear the bloodstream of hiv, but HIV is very clever and is able to hide out in other places, like lymph nodes, where it can lay dormant or sleeping for years. The drugs are not able to get to these hiding places to kill hiv, thus no cure. ...Read more

Can you please explain why aids is impossible to cure and by when is man expected to find its cure?

Can you please explain why aids is impossible to cure and by when is man expected to find its cure?

Were not so smart!: Keep in mind something which i find fascinating. Whenever anyone gets any virus infection (common cold, flu, chicken pox, hiv, CMV etc)...It never really leaves our bodies. Yes symptoms of disease may go away..But its the virus which decides to stop replicating. It then hides in our dna in our spine..Waiting to come back (possibly..Like shingles from chicken pox). So..Were not really all that! ...Read more

Does aids cure cancer?

No: Hiv infection increases the risk of several cancers like kaposi sarcoma, cervical cancer, and certain kinds of lymphoma. In fact, some of these cancers define the diagnosis of aids vs. "just" an HIV infection. Hiv is much more treatable than when it was discovered but no reason to be careless. Don't do drugs and avoid funky sex. Best to you and happy holidays. ...Read more

Can leeches cure aids?

Unfortunately no. : At the current time, there is no cure for the HIV virus that causes aids. While the antiviral medications are improving the quality of life of people infected with aids and a vaccine may be in the future, it is best to prevent HIV infection by avoiding high risk behaviors and HIV exposures. Leeches may still have a role (although very limited) in modern medicine, but not for aids. ...Read more

Is the cure of aids same as hiv?

Is the cure of aids same as hiv?

Yes, theoretically: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is the virus that causes progressive destruction of the immune system, leading to acquired immune deficiency syndrome (aids). As the immune system declines, a person can get one of 20+ opportunistic infections associated with aids. A person can also have aids if their cd4 or t-cell count (marker of immune function) is. ...Read more

Could we have a cure for aids and herpies?

Maybe someday: Some HIV/AIDS and HSV/herpes treatment experts and biologists believe that treatment to truly cure either infection -- i.e. eradicate the virus from the body and restore normal health -- is possible someday, but others disagree. Active research is underway, especially for HIV/AIDS. Even the research is successful, cure for either virus probably is many years in the future. ...Read more

Hard to say: Diseases have been part of life since inception; it is very difficult to predict the progress of human disease. For instance, eradication of smallpox didn't result in something even more dangerous. ...Read more
