Toenail Falling Off
Hi. Trying to get piece of acrylic nail off nail bed. Nothing works. Filed nails & now that piece of fake nail seems attached to nail bed . Tips?

It will usually get pushed off as the new nail grows out. Usually the nail will grow back normally unless the nail bed has been damaged. If nail bed damage has occurred, then some type of nail dystrophy will be permanent. Dr l. ...Read more
Broke big toe on 8/12. Detached toenail. Skin is falling off in sheets from ALL toes on the foot. No cast. Walking boot, now surgical shoe. Why?
Quit Sloughing off.: Skin sloughing, particularly after a period of immobilization and departure from one's daily bathing routine, is almost a given when the immobilization and swelling end. One can only imagine how much skin is shedded daily by your body daily. ...Read more

Use nail polish, either one color coat or 2 clear coats. Be patient, it may take several weeks to bring your nails back to normal. ...Read more
Nailbed is hurting again on same toe that nail fell off before. Feels the same way before the nail eventually fell off. What to do?
Depends: It depends on how badly your nail was injured. If it does fall off the nail almost always grows back. Incidentally, if you have bleeding under the nail, identified by blue-black color and pain, this is easily relieved by drilling a small hole in the nail. Your doctor knows how to do this safely and with little discomfort. Afterwards, you'll feel much better. ...Read more
Bandaid and topical: The best treatment would be to get the wound assessed by a doctor. With that said if the there are no lacerations in the nail bed and the rest of the nail is attached firmly, no treatment would be necessary except for maybe a bandaid with topical antibiotic cream for a few days. If the nail is loose it may need to be taken off by a doctor or it may fall off on its own soon. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

It can.: Any time you stress out a toenail with surgery or even a small in-office procedure, there's a small risk of the nail falling off completely.
