Will my nail fall off if black after hammer hit the finger?

Depends on damage: If there is bleeding under the nail that extends to the base of the nail, then you will probably lose the nail. This may take weeks to months to come off. It will usually get pushed off as the new nail grows out. Usually the nail will grow back normally unless the nail bed has been damaged. Quit Sloughing off.: Skin sloughing, particularly after a period of immobilization and departure from one's daily bathing routine, is almost a given when the immobilization and swelling end. Your doctor knows how to do this safely and with little discomfort. Afterwards, you'll feel much better. ...Read more

My big toenail is falling off on the top half from onychomycosis. Will it ever grow back?

Toe nail injury -- nail attached, but nail bed exposed. What's the best treatment?

Toe nail injury -- nail attached, but nail bed exposed. What's the best treatment?

Bandaid and topical: The best treatment would be to get the wound assessed by a doctor. With that said if the there are no lacerations in the nail bed and the rest of the nail is attached firmly, no treatment would be necessary except for maybe a bandaid with topical antibiotic cream for a few days. If the nail is loose it may need to be taken off by a doctor or it may fall off on its own soon. ...Read more

Had ingrown toenail on big toe, removed it. where toenail came off nail bed it wont grow back.i have half toenail on big toe.why won't it grow back.Ty?

In the Details.: Some toenail surgeries will allow the toenail to regrow. But, there are procedures that permanently stop the nail from regrowing. This variation is usually explained before the surgery is done and your consent given. Having said that, some times the nail root is stunted during the nail removal procedure. This can temporarily slow regrowth of the involved nail. You might check with the surgeon. ...Read more

Is it normal for your toenail to fall off after haveing ingrown toenail surgery?

It can.: Any time you stress out a toenail with surgery or even a small in-office procedure, there's a small risk of the nail falling off completely. Nails don't tend to take a joke very well, and if they're angry enough after a nail procedure, they may just give up and start over. (this is a very rare occurrence, though.). ...Read more
