I have an extremely painful toe specially at night. Looks swollen nd red however no signs of a fungus or ingrown nail or injuries. Please help.
Fever/spots/pain: Hfm varies more in intensity than anything. Some kids can have it & run a brief temperature & never show other symptoms. Could be: Without a full exam, this is difficult to get a complete picture. Some people will hear and feel popping from tendon injury but others will experience similar symptoms from joint injuries. No, but facial : swelling may be. Infra-orbital cellulitis was caused by Haemophilus Influenzae Type B bacteria before HIB vaccines. If your daughter had 3-4 HIB vaccines, starting at 2 mos., she'd be protected. "Strep" & other bacteria can also infect the infra-orbital space. Trauma or allergy can cause it. If not red & tender, apply cool packs & see her MD tomorrow. If red, hot & tender, seek care tonight. ...Read more
