Toddler Vomiting Undigested Food
For the last 4 days my toddler has been vomiting undigested food and what looks like spoiled milk with no fever and nos signs of illness?
My 20 months old toddler has rejected all solid food for three days after vomiting in the mist of a meal. How long do toddler food strike last?
It depends: Three days of no solid food is a long time if he just vomited once in the middle of a meal. Did he vomit more often than that? Is he drinking normally? If he vomited for a day, so you're on day 2 of no food, and he's been drinking and peeing normally, then it's probably a bug that he'll get over. If not, if he's not peeing normally, or you're worried that he's just not "right" see your doctor. ...Read more

Swllw Stdy shows toddler aspirates up to purées. 3 violentchoking vomit last night. Seems ok today. If aspiratedwould symptoms be showing up already?
Usually: After a serious aspiration event there tends to be a latent period where there may be no symptoms. This period can be a few minutes to a couple of hours. Coughing, wheezing, noisy breathing, etc tend to be noticed within the first 1-2 hrs. Fever may take a bit longer but is generally present within 12-24 hrs after the aspiration (if the aspiration is causing a pneumonia). ...Read more
Sips of clear fluid: For vomiting, stop everything for at least an hour. Start with small sips (1/2 oz) of clear fluid (pedialyte). Gradually increase if she hasn't vomited after 30 minutes. Keep her on just the pedialyte for 2-3 hours, then try a cracker or piece of dry toast. If no vomiting, add other plain foods gradually- bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, crackers, etc. If vomiting persists, see your doctor. ...Read more

Can a toddler swallowing a foreign object cause vomiting six hours later? No proof he ate anything I just worry he put something in his mouth.
Access to batteries?: What was it that happened 6 hours beforehand? If he is able to swallow liquids normally, I would not be too concerned about a foreign object unless he had access to a small battery that he may have swallowed. In that case he should be x rayed. Also if you suspect coin ingestion, xray to be sure it cleared esophagus. If he has persistent vomiting, of course you need to speak with his physician. ...Read more
Good morning, my toddler is 4 and for the past few weeks when it is time to go to creche she will start crying about stomach ache and vomitting. Weekends she is fine and during the day she is ok as well. What could the cause be? Psycological?
Manipulation: Kids at that age don't have the sense of right & wrong that they will acquire after age 8 or so. If they don't want to do something they understand that parents will respond to their crying & feigned illness. If she is well on weekends/acts sick on crèche days she is exercising her powers of persuasion. Check out what is happening at the center before confronting the kid. It is behavioral. ...Read more
