Depends: Depends on the location of the "hip." the term "hip" is often not specifically localizing, even for physicians. If pain in in the groin, actual hip joint may be involved. If pain is on the side, it may be bursitis. If pain is in the butt, other possibilities. I am a 4 mile a day walker sometimes runner. Why would my thigh hurt from my hip joint down when i move my leg side to side? Walking doesn't hurt as bad as sitting or lying on my side or trying to lift my leg to roll over or slide into the car seat?
