Other symptoms?: Fever itself is never an evil "symptom." it is a sign of an infection that if fully vaccinated-may be a virus germ that will improve with"comfort" care and support. Numbers on a thermometer are not as important as associated symptoms/comfort and severity/duration. You may watch and wait for your toddler-offer meds if he tolerates/needs it. Follow up with your pediatrician if things worsen. ...Read more

See your doctor: Have you been to her doctor yet? Maybe there is an infection in her ear or her throat or somewhere else, and her doctor could give her something that will make her feel better. Or maybe this is a virus that will run its course. There are two ways to tell: you can give it more time, but you run the risk of worsening infection, or you could get a doc who knows the difference to examine her. ...Read more

My 16month old has 101.3 fever and he is drooling a lot he doesn't want to eat normally, fuzzy, crying, can't sleep right and it hurts him to swallow

Fever: You need to take him to his pediatrician. But at the mean time try to control the fever with tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen, lukewarm bath & keep him hydrated with small frequent sips of fluid, this could be a throat infection, viral illness or teething. His doctor will decide if he needs antibiotics or not, I hope he gets better soon. Good luck ...Read more

Of course: Your teeth just don't pop out of you gums like pop tarts out of the toaster. They have to cut their way through virgin gums that have never been cut through before. Your adult teeth don't do this because a path is already there. However, when baby's first teeth are coming in, there are weeks if not months of cutting through those gums, which includes the drooling, fussy etc etc. ...Read more

Today I went to dr and was told I had a tonsil infection and given a ceftriaxone injection. Fever down, still hard to swallow, lots of drooling?

Interesting: This seems like a very unusual way of treating an episode of tonsillitis. Normally I put patients on oral antibiotics and if necessary oral steroids. I'm not sure what your doctor was trying to accomplish with this measure but if you're not a lot better soon you should see an ENT doctor. ...Read more
