Loose stools is a symptom in which a person's stool (poop) does not hold its shape after it goes into the toilet. Doctor can evaluate: If a normal, healthy person has unusual changes in stool consistency, color, or frequency, he should record the symptoms on a large calendar, and review it with his primary care doctor. Include on the calendar what foods were eaten each time the stool got green, what activities were done, what meds were taken, what drinks, etc... Sometimes gall bladder problems cause changes in stool color. ...Read more
Can constipation cause a mild fever in a toddler? There are no other symptoms besides constipation and fever at 101-99
Not from my experia: I think most of my patients go thru a constipation phaze at one time or another, or it just seems so, but they don't generally run temp with it. The exception are some chronic retainers who in mid to late childhood skip the function for a week or so and end up so full & stressed that serial enemas are needed to clear them. I did have a 14 yo with 103 that resolved with enemas. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

When blood is denatured by acid in your stomach, as from ulcers, stools will turn tarry ("melena"). Blood may also be ingested from nose bleeds, bleeding gums. My calprotectin is 59. Other than occasional mild cramps, no diarrhea, constipation, blood or other symptoms. Other labs all normal. Colonoscopy time?
Not necessarily: I'm not sure why you had a fecal calprotectin performed if you have no symptoms other than cramping. Levels are elevated in inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. If you have a family history of ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease a colonoscopy could be considered, but will likely be of low yield without additional symptoms. ...Read more
