Toddler has cough /low grade fever. He's in great spirits but cough seems like it's getting worse. Is it normal for cough to get worse before better?

No cough meds: There are NO GOOD cough medicines for toddlers. The studies very clearly show they don't work and have undesirable side effects. Try some honey in tea, warm showers and a humidifier. Cough No Fever: Even without fever a dry cough that lasts more that a week should be evaluated. It could be due to post nasal drainage from a nasal allergy or narrowing of the breathing tubes similar to asthma. Toddlers are prone to to this problem with allergies or viral infections. Be patient: Most cough/fever in a kid is a cold or some other virus. Treating a cold with antibiotics will not heal it faster or fix a fever that is not caused by bacteria. If the kid was labeled as a bronchitis or some other infection, the antibiotics may or may not have been needed. See doctor now: It is not clear that your child has strep pharyngitis or not? Was it confirmed by rapid strep screen? You said he had 3 doses or 3 kinds of antibiotics?
