I have prescribed tobramycin drops hundreds of times and never encountered this from my patients as a side effect. Of course everyone can react to the same medication differently. Use one to two drops I each eye three times a day. The eye does not have to be open for the drops to get in. If you don't routinely massage them, the blockage and subsequent drainage will just keep recurring.
