The biggest/worst fibro symptom I have is flu-ish aches/fatigue and bed ridden for days. Doc suggested meds, but how can meds help if body weak/tired?

Well. ..: Currently, the theory on why fibromyalgia might occur is based on findings that the neurons of the nervous system are firing far more frequently and for a longer duration than they should. Medications like Lyrica, (pregabalin) for example, help to slow down those signals and thereby help with your symptoms. Partnering with your physician offers you the best chance for success. Any: Any fever that lasts longer than 5 days deserves a work-up. It looks as though your doctor started one by ordering tests for mono or the flu (both good reasons for a fever to last more than 5 days). Since your symptoms have continued, it is probably time for another round of testing to look for a malingnancy, rheumatologic disease, or an underlying infection such as lyme disease, cat scratch disease or osteomyelitis (bone infection). Talk to your doctor again and let them know that you are still having fevers. They may want to order more testing or may send you to a specialist such as an infectious disease doctor or a rheumatologist. Good luck! ...Read more

The symptoms are wosrt for the first 1-2 days, but it can take a week or even 10 days for diarrhea and feeeling run down to completely clear up. As long as things are improved, just hang in there. What could cause extreme joint pain, weakness especially in leg and wrist with fatigue? Feeling of having the flu but not actually having the flu??

Be seen: There are many potential causes, I would encourage you to be seen. Systemic inflammatory conditions can cause patients to ache in their joints and generally not feel well. These can precede a viral infection or can be associated with non infectious conditions like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. Consider being seen, and exam and labs can often find the cause. ...Read more

Cannot diagnose: This could be multiple different things. Whether you actually had influenza or an illness simulating it is the first of many questions that need answering. You are obviously seeing a doctor. Let them get to the root of this. If you are not satisfied, go see an infectious diseases expert. They are very good at working these things out. Good luck. ...Read more
