No: A hematoma occurs when blood leaks out of the blood vessel that was punctured. There is a pool of blood in the adjacent tissues and, since blood is irritating, it hurts. Because of your hx, I'm guessing you might be on an anticoagulant ("blood thinner")? If so, it predisposes you to a hematoma. Hematomas hurt but get better on their own. No!: Estrogen increases risk of blood clots. Having a history of blood clots (TIA, PE), you need to avoid all estrogen-containing products. This includes oral birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) that contain estrogen. Bioequivalent hormone replacement therapy (B-HRT) does contain a form of estrogen and therefore is as dangerous for you to take as regular HRT. Avoid all estrogens! ...Read more
