I am 22 and loosing hair and has black spots randomly along his scalp. Spots are new hair loss is not. Mom thinks it's from using rogaine (minoxidil)?
Doubt it.: I doubt very much that either the black spots or the hair loss are due to rogaine (minoxidil) -- but i'm not sure what you mean by "black spots". Are they little black dots, about the width of a hair shaft? If so, you could have a fungus infection. Is the hair loss uniform or patchy? In short, you should see a dermatologist for a precise diagnosis and proper treatment. ...Read more
Black spots the size of a #2 pencil eraser, on scalp not from rogaine (minoxidil)? What's it from? Hair loss also toward the back of the scalp. What can it be?
Fungal infection.: There is a form of fungal infection known as black dot tinea due to the fact that the broken hair at the site of the skin reveals a "black dot". Additionally fungal infection can definitely cause hair loss and progress rapidly if left untreated. Start using an over the counter shampoo containing selenium sulfide, but get to an md to evaluate your scalp and possibly perform a scraping for fungus. ...Read more

Tanning, Lentigos: Tanning in tanning artificial tanning beds puts you at a greater risk for developing all types of skin cancer. Notably, tanning bed use increases your risk for melanoma by 75%. I strongly advise against ever using tanning beds from this point forward. As for the black spots, they are most likely benign solar lentigos, but they should be evaluated by a physician - as any new lesions should be. ...Read more

The : The back of the eye is filled with a jelly call vitreous. As we get older it tends to break up and clump into little floaters. These often present similiarly to your description. Most of the time these go away with time. It is a good idea to get an eye exam if this is a new problem becuase a few patients with this problem can develop a retinal detachment. Although commonly referred to as floaters the fancy name for this is a posterior vitreous detachment. A link to the page at the american academy of ophthalmology below goes into more detail. Other problems can present as above but this is the most common finding when a patient presents with a similiar story. http://www.geteyesmart.org/eyesmart/diseases/floaters-flashes.cfm. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
