Pressure feeling on just forehead, tingling on scalp, sensitive to light - Dr doesn't know what it is - any ideas? The pressure is pretty constant.
Couple of thoughts: 2 possibilities (emphasis on "possibilities"): 1) medication side effects; 2) a mild migraine variant. If you have a personal or family history of migraine, that is worth considering. The scalp tingling and photophobia are suggestive. If that's what it is and you've never had headaches, you may start getting them. If you doc advises you just to wait and see what develops if anything, I concur. ...Read more

That tingling is: Actually a release of a neurochemical in your brain that causes that feeling of tingling due to mild hypersensitization with its release. Try to rub away: Hi AngelaG strange feelings can be paresthesias, coming from nerves acting up due to pressure or a virus. Does occipital neuralgia cause tingling over one half of scalp and sore spots on scalp? Hurts to move hair. Also tingly numb feeling forehead n cheek
Cutaneous allodynia: Cutaneous allodynia is the scalp tenderness and pain with hair movement that can happen when a migraine has gone on for a while until there is "central sensitization." The numbness in forehead and cheek doesn't sound like occipital neuralgia. Hemicrania continua is also a possibility, but less likely. I'm available for consult if you'd like to discuss further.
