However, nerve pain, (called neuropathy) is commonly described by patients as burning, tingling, electrical. The location of your pain in the groin is similar to where hip joint pain would be felt, but your description of the pain gives me the sense that this is a nerve. LBA under 30: I assume there is no radiation so this points to localized lesions in a "youngster." See your doctor for an x-ray -most likely spondylolisthesis-a developmental instability in the 4th or 5th lumbar vertebra. Less likely is arthritis from old injury or a birth defect. A couple ....: ..of possibilities. I suspect piriformis syndrome. This pain is caused from pressure applied to the sciatic nerve by the piriformis muscle as it passes through or under this muscle. It can also be caused by nerve compression in the lumbar spine/sciatica. Stretch/strengthen of hip flexors/piriformis may help; consider visit to Sports Med/PT for instruction.
