What could cause a quarter sized tingling spot on back of head? Could it be related to the fact that I'm sleep deprived?

Superficial nerve: This sounds like merely an irritable, superficial nerve in your scalp and probably is not related to being sleep deprived. If symptoms worsen or headaches develop, have a physician check it. Read more

Can improper placement of needle & numbing agent in lower jaw cause temporary facial paralysis/tingling & severe pain in jaw, ear, neck & back of head?

Can improper placement of needle & numbing agent in lower jaw cause temporary facial paralysis/tingling & severe pain in jaw, ear, neck & back of head?

Anesthetic Block: An inferior alveolar nerve block of your lower jaw will anesthetize either your left or right side, making it feel numb and "paralyzed". Pain in your jaw, ear, neck, and back of head may be a reaction to the anesthetic, not necessarily due to improper technique. Since every issue was temporary, you should heal without incident. Discuss with your dentist. Read more

I have tingling sensation on back of head that lasts 15 seconds for past few days, what could this be?

I have tingling sensation on back of head that lasts 15 seconds for past few days, what could this be?

That could be tough: In that it doesn't sound like a disease process. No headaches? No new scalp products? Hair not pulled too tight? Have u been grinding your teeth at night? If this is your only sx and nothing else occurring it will likely be a transient problem in my opinion. If it worsens, evoles into headaches go in. Sometimes we can just tell whether or not something is disease, not it's exact cause. Gd luc. Read more

ABI or TBI: Ct/mri after the initial head injury (up to 2-3 weeks in some cases) may be normal. In this case brain MRI may be normal, but important for ruling out old bleed/sdh. Functional dynamic brain imaging is available but not readily available or affordable. Neuropsychiatric testing can diagnose, define specific deficits & recommend specific treatment. Improvements is seen in those who are proactive. Read more

Does occipital neuralgia cause tingling over one half of scalp and sore spots on scalp? Hurts to move hair. Also tingly numb feeling forehead n cheek

Does occipital neuralgia cause tingling over one half of scalp and sore spots on scalp? Hurts to move hair. Also tingly numb feeling forehead n cheek

Cutaneous allodynia: Cutaneous allodynia is the scalp tenderness and pain with hair movement that can happen when a migraine has gone on for a while until there is "central sensitization." The numbness in forehead and cheek doesn't sound like occipital neuralgia. Hemicrania continua is also a possibility, but less likely. I'm available for consult if you'd like to discuss further. Hope that helps! Read more

My doctor diagnosed me with occipital neuralgia but I have tingling in the front of head on one side, temple and forehead?

My doctor diagnosed me with occipital neuralgia but I have tingling in the front of head on one side, temple and forehead?

Temporal arteritis?: If your head about 1-1.5 inches off of the midline at the base of the skull on the same side is NOT tender then you likely do not have an occipital neuralgia. If you have a relatively new pain, fever, chills, very tender to pressure over the right temple, I would wonder about a temporal arteritis altho unlikely. I would see your M.D. again ASAP or if unable, see urgent care or E.R. now. Read more
