Timeline After Day 3 Transfer Ivf
I did my fresh day three transfer 11 days ago. I'm suppose to go tomorrow for my blood but I see I am spotting. Does that mean the IVF didn't work?
Be patient: Please be patient and wait for your pregnancy test tomorrow. Small spotting is extremely common and does not tell you 'yes' or 'no.' keep the test tomorrow, try not to worry, and good luck. ...Read more
In vitro fertilization is an assisted reproductive technology. Ivf is a procedure used to treat fertility problems and assist with the conception of a child. During ivf mature eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab. A few days later, the fertilized egg (embryo) or eggs are implanted into the uterus. One cycle of in vitro fertilization ...Read more

Depends: Many factors play into success with embryo transfer — age, condition of the embryo, length of time in cold storage for embryo before implant, technique, the specific center you are being treated at, the list goes on. Your RE, the doctor that is doing the procedure should have age-related numbers for the center you are being treated at. Discuss this with your doctor there for a more accurate answer ...Read more
Wait and see: One would expect no symptoms since it too early. You simply wait to take a pregnancy test until the day your doctor instructed. ...Read more
Not really.: As anxious a time as this is, symptoms are an unreliable indicator of good or bad outcome. Have to just hang in there. ...Read more
My wife tested today for HCG after our IVF 2.8 was her beat on day 13 past 3 day transfer.......is it even possible for this to end well?
Probably not...: Given that it's essentially 31 days after "LMP" (15+3+13), bhcg should be detectable by urine pregnancy test (which usually has threshold of 25) so if the HCG is 2.8, this cycle may not have been successful. You should discuss with your REI doc — see if there's any other reason and also planning for future cycle(s) ...Read more
Had IVF 2 day transfer of 3 embryos: a 2 cell, a 4 cell, and a 1 cell. The 2 & 4 cell were the highest grade. What is my chance of success? I'm 41.
Ask your doc: Each clinic determines their own success rates. Pregnancy rates vary considerably from clinic to clinic. For example, we always transfer on day 3 and day 5, so I would have trouble giving you a comparable success rate. However, in general, embryos should be 4 cells on day 2 and the smaller embryos are likely of lower quality. The us national average for 41 yo = 12%. Best wishes. ...Read more
No: The window of implantation appears to close at about noon on day 6 post-retrieval. While there may be occasional pregnancies, the success rate drops significantly. I am not sure why you or your doc would want to transfer on day 7, but it is almost certainly a poor idea. ...Read more
Success rate of day 3 versus day 5 embryo transfer for IVF. Is one method more successful than the other?
Need more space: To give the full answer. Short answer: they're the same, it depends on the embryo number and embryo quality. Day 5 allows transfer of fewer embryos (less risk of multiples) while keeping rates at the sam level. Could write a book about this, please consult with your MD or could do an online consult full details. Your doc is always first choice! Good wishes. ...Read more
What is the difference between hCG level and bata level for a 3 day IVF transfer?
My numbers are 1508 hCG and my bata #is 24.19
Hormone: The pregnancy test commonly referred to as HCG is actually a measure of the beta subunit of the HCG molecule, so you may hear it referred to as beta hcg, hcg, or beta and they are the same test. I think you may be mistaken on the second test-- the result seems more consistent with a Progesterone level. ...Read more
I am 41 and just had my embryo transfer on sunday 12/05/13. This is my first IVF cycle. I had 4 embryos transferred on day 3. What are my chances?
Reasonable: The number one predictor of success with ivf is age. The u. S national average is 20% pregnancy & 12% creating a live born baby. The 8% difference is mostly due to miscarriages. You specific odds of achieving pregnancy and ultimately a live born baby depends on many factors, including your fsh level, the cause of infertility, the skill and experience of your physician, skill of embryologist. ...Read more
Is a 6 cell embryo on Day 3 an option to make it to a viable blastocyst for IVF transfer on Day 5? I know ideally it should be an 8 cell on Day 3.
Would be concerned a: Bout how it got to be 6 celled. The fertilized egg should split into two and each of the cells then consequently double so should be 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. 6 is not part of that so was there some sort of problem during 4-to-8 split such that half the slcells didn't split? ...Read more
I did my 3 IVF. Day 3 transfer. Day 8 after transfer I did a urine test in the afternoon it was also outdated. Result negative. Was is too early to ch?

Depends: Usually bleeding will start 14-5 days after your retrieval. If you have a day 3 transfer that is 11-12 days later or 9-10 days after a day 5 blastocyst transfer. If you are taking Progesterone supplementation it may supress bleeding even if you are not pregnant. The period will usually start 1-2 days after stopping progesterone. ...Read more
My first round of IVF failed- 14 fertilized only 1 made it to day 5 transfer- what causes bad embryos (I'm 29, pcos)??
Genetic issues: The combination of the 46 chromosomes in the embryo are the cause of the "bad" embryos that do not go on to fruition. ...Read more
1. This could be a sign of implantation as the embryo is hatching and trying to imbed into your uterine cavity
2. The spotting could be residual from either the egg retrieval or some cervical irritation from the embryo transfer- was it a difficult embryo transfer?
Make sure you stay on your Progesterone post-transfer- good luck! ...Read more
No change in success: Although very popular in the last 5-6 years, a large multi-center study published in 12/2008 showed that there was no difference in success rates with ivf in couples that did acupuncture vs. Not doing acupuncture. In my experience, that is true, but the one benefit I have seen is that it definitely relaxes you prior to the procedure; and there is no "down" side. Hope this helps. ...Read more
Cancelled last IVF cycle. Out of time. Dr prescriped Duphaston 10mg 3x/day for 10 days. Can I increase dose and take for 5 days to induce sooner?

Ivf beta hCG numbers 1st 12 days post 5 day transfer 1st went 61, 48hours later went 95, 48hours later went back 73, 48 later went up 108 isit normal?
Unfortunately not: Your HCG levels do not sound like they can be consistent with a healthy pregnancy, particularly an ivf pregnancy when we know exactly how far along you are. Most likely this is a biochemical pregnancy (very early miscarriage) or there is a small chance of ectopic pregnancy. You'll want your doctor to monitor you closely until the situation is more clear. Sorry, and good luck going forward! ...Read more

No: There is no specific initial HCG level that is considered normal. Most reproductive endocrinologists like a level of 50 or more miu/ml. Most importantly HCG repeated 2-3 days latter should double, in your case 130-140miu/ml. Best whishes. ...Read more
Day 4 after IVF transfer, feeling lower pains and peeing alot. Is this positive signs? Please advise soon.
No: The pain you are feeling is likely due to the instrumentation that occurred during the transfer, as implantation and pregnancy at this point wouldn't cause any pain. Also, peeing a lot typically is a sign of a bladder infection.... You might want to get that checked out in case you have one. Urgent care or your doctor should be able to help. Good luck on the pregnancy, hope a positive soon! ...Read more
