My first pap smears results back as abnormal, ascus +reactive endocervical cells, HPV neg, im 17 weeks pregnant, what does this mean?
Normal pap 2 yrs back.did pap today.doc told inflammed cervix.being treated for yeast infection.will pap test be normal?reason for inflammed cervix?
Probably normal: Presence of a Pap failing to reveal malignant cells but rather showing inflamed cells not definitive for dx. Inflammation common from yeast and HPV but neither tells Ca or not. If you were my: Patient in coral springs, fl., i would do a culture for many different organisms , probably more than what was checked for, including std and non std bacteria, i would do a colposcopy of cervix to make sure u do not have chronic cervicitis and to make sure no problems in endocervical canal and do an ultrasound to check the endometrium and u may need an office hysteroscopy that would be complete. ...Read more

More info: The basic answer is that checking your cervix at this point should not cause any problems. The more important question is why are you being checked? Discuss with your doctor if you have certain risks or symptoms that increase your risk of preterm labor.
