No: Cough syrup does NOT cause the loss of vocal function. The symptoms, except the sporadic eyelid twitches, are most likely the result of a viral infection. These types of infections respond to conservative treatment and your immune system. If the symptoms persist for more than 3 weeks, consult your primary doctor.
