Probably normal: Having a white coating on the tongue surface is usually just debris caught in the papillae (bumps) of the surface. Scraping your tongue with a tongue scraper regularly can reduce this. Another possibility is that you have a fungal infection of your mouth and the white coating is fungal growth. Is it possible to stretch out a tied tongue?

Not really: Tongue tie needs to be surgically clipped. If you try to stretch it out, i guess theoretically you could tear it. But this would cause significant pain and probably bleeding. I would not recommend it. ...Read more

My 11 years old son is having a speech problem, some of thewords that he speaks are not very clear. He is also having a tied tongue. What should I do?

Could be: It certainly can be a tongue tie contributing but there are other causes of poor clarity of voice. A speech therapist and/or a pediatric ENT can evaluate your soon to be sure. They may also suggest a hearing test to ensure that isn't part of the problem.
