Tick bite continue to itch 4 mos after bite...took doxycillin immed after bite "just in case." No other symptoms, no evid of tick borne illnesses or cellulitis. Piece of tick still under the skin?

An embedded part of the tick would fester a little under the skin and may become a little red and painful until the skin pushes it out or it's broken down. If you have been washing it over and over or scratching it I'd say eczema, neurodermatitis or scabies it possible without any other rash or lesions. See doc. ...Read more

Aside from Lyme itself, do the long-term and sometimes extreme treatment protocols by "Lyme literate mds" for tick-borne illness have any truth? They have you believe all humans in the E USA need combitorial antibiotics/antiprotozoals to find health

Beware of quacks: The problem with Lyme disease is that there is a whole other 'culture' of treating Lyme that is well outside of established medical principles. There's actually a case I know of where the patient DIED because of some 'quack' treatment by one of these Lyme doctors. I suggest you seek out a board certified Infectious Disease doctor who can offer you real options that actually work and restore health ...Read more

Does a tick have to be engorged to transmit illness or make me sick and if the tick still flat am I ok I'm really worried thank u?

Can transmit illness: A tick doesn't have to be engorged to transmit infections; being engorged means it was attached long enough to feed on you but it doesn't have to be on that long to transmit Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella, Anaplasma etc.
I strongly advise finding a Lyme-literate Dr. For evaluation and treatment.
