Tibia Bone Bruise Treatment
I suffered what I thought was a deep tibia bone bruise 2 months ago and now I have multiple hard lumps I can move up and down the whole tibia bone.
Bruise Or Contusion (Definition)
Bruises, or ecchymoses, are discolorations and tenderness of the skin or mucous membranes due to the leakage of blood from an injured blood vessel into the surrounding tissues. A serious disease called pupura presents as a cluster of small bruises called petachia. Petachia often appears as many tiny red dots clustered together, and could indicate a problem. ...Read more
Is it possible to have a severe bone bruise of the tibia cause compartment syndrome in the lower thigh of the same leg.
Compartment syndrome: Is not likely to move up to the thigh from the lower leg. The fascia of the muscles of the legs and arms is so tight that it doesn't allow for expansion in the crushed muscle so the swelling leads to pain and damage to additional muscle and can result in loss of the limb in extreme cases. Have it checked in an emergency room...Special equipment to measure increase in pressure in the muscle.
I fell the other day and hurt my knee. I do think it's only a bone bruise bc I can bend it. There is swelling. How long for the swelling &treatments?
Several days: Bone bruises can take a few weeks to resolve. Rest and ice will help alleviate pain and swelling. You should consult an orthopedic specialist and have X rays just to make sure it is not fractured.
I fell on my hand last February, and was diagnosed with scaphoid bone bruise. X-ray was inconclusive. I had hand therapy and improved somewhat, but am having worsening pain at the base of my thumb on the palmar side (not the snuff box). It is a deep ache,
Repeat x-ray: I would recommend reevaluation with another x-ray -- this late type of pain after a remote injury can indicate damage to articular cartilage in the wrist in a number of different areas like the articulation between the the thumb metacarpal bone and another wrist bone called the trapezium -- repeat evaluation by an orthopedist specializing in hand is indicated
Rest: Rest, ice, sling, meds.Get a more detailed answer ›
Depends: A bone bruise, as opposed to a bone fracture, does not need to be put in a cast in the sense of protection from displacement. But a cast can be useful to control swelling, potentially help with pain, and may make the hand more functional while you are recovering. I certainly would discuss with your doctor the different options for immobilization that are available.
Ice: And rest. Somethings just need time to heal. (i am assuming it is not broken.).See 2 more doctor answers
Is there any exercise or self treatment for a bone spur / bruised heel? I usually like to do all I can before going to doc!!
I hit my shin (Tibia) 5 days ago, there is a lump on the bone with some bruising at the site, now there is bruising in my ankle could it be broken?
Aqua fur.: Anythings possible, but if bruising is the only issue, an ankle fracture is unlikely. The ankle bruising could be some blood and serum leaking between tissue planes and moving from the shin to the ankle area. To remove all doubt, have your ankle evaluated.
Is a cast of the forearm to the tip of the fingers appropriate treatment for a bone bruise for the metacarpals?
Depends: That is a fairly extensive cast for a "bone bruise" as you put it. A bruise does not necessarily have to be immobilized at all; but sometimes we will to control swelling, improve function, or we are concerned there may be more to the injury. Don't hesitate to discuss with your orthopedic surgeon.
Playing hockey thumb got trapped between ball and stick. Tip of thumb is very bruised, swollen, tender to touch where meets next bone. Best treatment?
Resting: Rest, ice pack and anti-inflammatory. May be you need an X Ray to rule out any fracture.
I had impact with my had and a solid object at around 40 mph xrays show no break in bones and MRI revels bone bruise is a cast appropriate treatment?
Fell on knee 2 months ago. Bad bruise healed but still painful to kneel. No swelling. Bursitis? Chipped bone? See a doctor? Wait for healing? Treatment?
Ortho evaluation: Symptoms persisting for two months require expert evaluation with radiographic and perhaps mr exams. History and physical exam by orthopedic doctor necessary to determine problem and course of therapy
Treatment for undisplaced fracture or bone bruise of posterior medial talus and articular surface, and minor bone bruise distal calcaneous?
See orthopedic surg: Please see an orthopedic surgeon. Most likely need to be on crutches for a number of weeks. May need to wear a cast or boot as well. Some taler fractures also result in AVN which prolong the treatment course.
27 year old female. Had lateral patellar dislocation in feb. My MRI shows bone bruise on lateral condyle of femur and minimal joint effusion. Treatment?
Conservative: Treatment- nsaids, warms packs /ace wrap application, physical therapy, immobilization with a brace. The small fluid accumulation may resolve by itself otherwise it needs to be drained if it builds up. Follow up with ur orthopedic. Best wishes! Http://reference. Medscape. Rest it: A bone bruise typically refers to trauma to the layer that covers the bone, the periosteum. This layer will swell and cause pain when traumatized. There is no specific treatment to accelerate the healing, but use ice the 1st 24 hours to reduce the swelling then heat may feel good. Antiinflammatories and staying off the affected bone as much as possible may help too.See 1 more doctor answer
