I have nodules on my thyroid i was wondering is this the cause of why my throat feels dry all the time?

No: The nodules will not cause your throat to be dry, but they need to be evaluated and followed by your doctors. ...Read more

I am being tested for a nodule "outside" the thyroid gland, not "in" it. I have several symptoms for the last 2 years. Throat or thyroid ?

Nodule: Could be many different things including ectopic thyroid nodule, parathyroid gland or lymph node. An fna (fine needle aspirate) may be helpful and would allow a pathologist to evaluate cells from this nodule. Best of luck. ...Read more

Dr said I have nodule on left of my throat&both sides of thyroid r goitered. Hard to swallow. Said he doesn't know what's causing it andleft it at that?

Agree : We don't know what causes it. Thyroid nodules are very common. We know that excessive radiation will increase the risk that the nodules will be cancerous. Thus, if you know you have thyroid nodules, make sure you follow them and biopsy nodules that changes or grow in time. ...Read more

Lrge thyroid nodule found on examination/past week been extrmely tired all day even w sleep.Headace, feel like throat always full & presured. Conected?

See endocrinologist: Maybe. There are a lot of possibilities. You need thyroid function blood tests. Perhaps an ultrasound with biopsy. This could be simple, or it could be complicated. Best to see an endocrinologist to sort things out. As a 19 yo woman, odd are in favor of autoimmune thyroid disease (hashimoto's thyroiditis or graves). ...Read more

Thyroid nodule is pushing on my throat, coughing, hard to swallow, feels awful. Dont know size yet, but what indications would it be removed?

Get evaluated: An indication to remove the thyroid due to a nodule is if it's already causing compressive symptoms. However, you need to get an ultrasound first to make sure it's a thyroid module causing your complaint and not something else. ...Read more

38 yr male. Thyrodectomy for ptc 2 years. Smoke pot. 7mm nodule on thyroid bed found. Is this related to ptc recurrence or can it be throat cancer?

38 yr male. Thyrodectomy for ptc 2 years. Smoke pot. 7mm nodule on thyroid bed found. Is this related to ptc recurrence or can it be throat cancer?

Either: I'd encourage you to stop smoking; it's just not good for you. Both throat and ptc can spread to the lymph nodes in your central neck, but given your history, ptc seems more likely. A serum thyroglobulin, thyroid scan, and a thyroid needle biopsy can get to the bottom of this. ...Read more

I have been experiencing a fullness feeling under my chin, almost tightness that does extend down the front of my throat. I have thyroid nodules but feel this might be too high in the throat for them. Going for an u/s scan tomorrow of thyroid to be sure

Thyroid Nodules: Thyroid nodules are very common. About 1 in 3 people develop them in their lifetime. The reason why we care, is that (in general) 5% of them turn out to be malignant. We also worry if they start to grow & put pressure on other structures in the neck, or become autonomous/overactive. An u/s will be helpful to evaluate. You should also discuss with your Dr. about checking TFTs & Thyroid Abs. ...Read more

I have a 1.4cm nodule on my right lobe. I've been clearing my throat for several days. But I've been spitting out mucus. Is that thyroid related?

No: Small thyroid nodules do not cause any physical pain or sensory changes. Frequent throat clearing is due to a sensation of "globus" usually related to acid reflux or sometimes post nasal drip. Based on the ata 2009 guidelines, this nodule should be evaluated with a fine needle aspiration (biopsy). ...Read more

Had thyroid us. I felt a constant lump in throat.Have "complex hypoechoic nodule(solid mass) 3.9x1.5x1.1cm (l) & 4.5x1.5x1.4cm (r)." can it be cancer?

Possible: Nodules that size although most often not cancer need to be evaluated further. Bilateral or multiple nodules are more likely to be benign. Next step should be fine needle biopsies (fna). This is just what it sounds like- a small needle placed into the nodule to obtain some cells for pathology. If benign, can leave alone. But if having symptoms simply from size of nodule might still need surgery. ...Read more
