3 Days w/fever 100-102, sore throat. D4 fvr gone, sore throat w/swollen lymphs in neck. D5 sore throat, lymphs smaller. No congestion. Flu or strep?

Throat infection: The flu season is not at this time. It could be a viral illness though (just not the "flu"). With the duration, and a fever of 102, with persistent lymph nodes, I would get checked for possible bacterial infection (such as strep) as you may require an antibiotic. Best wishes. ...Read more

Is this the flu or a cold. No fever. Congestion productive cough but with small amount of blood in phlegm. I have a sore throat and neck hurts.

Could be either: Symptoms of flu and routine viral respiratory disease overlap. If it is within the first couple days then get viral cultures for flu and start tamiflu (oseltamivir) if positive to shorten and decrease illness. Otherwise treat symptoms. ...Read more

Help! swelling of throat and tonsils, lymph nodes enlarged on neck, violent coughing, very painful to swallow. Fever, body aches, head congestion.

Help! swelling of throat and tonsils, lymph nodes enlarged on neck, violent coughing, very painful to swallow. Fever, body aches, head congestion.

? Head cold?: It sounds like a bad case of virus infection. It will take a few days to resolve. I would advise you to take tylenol (acetaminophen) 2 tablets every 6 hourly for the next 2-3 days. This will relieve the pain. If you have a runny nose or sinus congestion, you could take over the counter decongestant. You c an also buy combinations of 2-3 head cold medicines which contain decongestants along with tylenol (acetaminophen). ...Read more

Sick for about 4 days. Sore throat, productive cough, congestion, face is sore, no fever, mild earache but now my neck is swollen and sore. Seeadoc?

That's a good idea.: For significant sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician ; get a strep throat test/ culture. If you have strep throat, antibiotic therapy is imperative to prevent future complications. Consider tylenol (acetaminophen) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Or gargle with aloe vera juice twice a day. ...Read more

2 weeks ago i had hand/foot/mouth, ever since stuffy nose, throat congestion, and now stiff neck? What could it be?

Cannot diagnose: This sounds as if you have a viral upper respiratory tract infection, but 2 weeks is a lengthy time to be symptomatic. You don't say whether you have fever, nausea, vomiting or photophobia, but your symptoms have been present long enough to warrant a visit to your primary care physician. Go and i hope you feel better soon. ...Read more

I have a sore throat, congestion, plugged ears, and tightness in the back of my neck. Does it sounds like a cold or sinus infection?

URI: It is clear you have an upper respiratory infection. Whether you have a sinus infection on top of that is a tricky question to answer in a doctor's office, let alone on this forum. Sinusitis is usually accompanied by facial pain. If you're not in pain i wouldn't think sinusitis. ...Read more
