Triiodothyronine : 0.76 ng/ml; thyroxine : 5.27 ; thyroid stimulating hormone : 1.15. Is this normal?
Probably: In interpreting thyroid hormone levels, you have to consider several things: What is the clinical situation at the time of the lab draw- as stress, medications, even pregnancy can all effect the levels and what they should be. Every lab also has a slightly different 'normal' range depending on how they measure the hormone. Seeing the trend also helps - Are they stable, going up or down? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Not specific: The signs & symptoms of hypothyroidism are not specific for hypothyroidism (not a single one). Recheck your thyroid labs. If they're normal, your symptoms are due to something else. Having said that, I'm happy to do a trial of Cytomel with the Synthroid (thyroxine) in patients who want to try as long as I don't make them hyperthyroid. Some people report feeling better with comparable labs taking a little T3. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Keep going : The current weight is not provided, but if not at ideal body weight, further weight will likely help. Weight and diet are two pieces of the puzzle. Environmental factors and genetics predisposition are others. Blood pressure of 160/100 is hi for a 29 year old and most would start blood pressure medications at this point. It will not: An i131 test does not "diagnose" goiter. Goiter is just a term meaning an enlarged and/or nodular thyroid. An i131 scan is a "fucntional" scan. It is used to determine if a nodule within the thyroid is "hot" - picks up a lot of iodine: hyper-metabolic. A "cold" nodule does not concentrate the iodine: hypometabolic. There is a lower risk of thyroid cancer in "hot" nodules. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
