I : I believe you meant his antibodies are attacking his thyroid. The only significant problem from that (hashimoto's disease) is an underactive thyroid which is treated with supplemental thyroid hormone. I don't know what the 38 is since many levels could be tested, antibodies and thyroid levels of T4 and tsh. He might do well seeing an endocrinologist.
