Not to worry: If you have a thyroidectomy, they will give you thyroid replacement, and when adjusted properly, your thyroid level will be normal, and it will have no impact on weight. Please clarify: Hi. What do you mean by "tyrosine thyroid"? Tyrosine is an amino acid used in thyroid cells to synthesize thyroid hormone and the thyroid is a gland. I : I believe you meant his antibodies are attacking his thyroid. The only significant problem from that (hashimoto's disease) is an underactive thyroid which is treated with supplemental thyroid hormone. I don't know what the 38 is since many levels could be tested, antibodies and thyroid levels of T4 and tsh. He might do well seeing an endocrinologist.
