Blue spot under nail bed, getting larger, causes sharp radiating pain. Google says glomus tumor?

Possibly: Glomus tumors under the nail bed are blue appearing lesions caused by blood vessels that when placed under cold water enhance their pain. They can be confused with a traumatic episode to the nail bed where a small hematoma forms. Where the glomus does not usually enlarge, a hematoma does and when of concern can be partially drained by opening a paper clip, heating one end and penetrating the nail ...Read more

What does it mean when my fingertips are cold and tingle under the nail bed especially when I touch things? Its mainly both index fingers

Raynaud's?: Raynaud's disease is a condition that causes some areas of your body (such as your fingers or toes) to feel numb and cool in response to cold temperatures or stress. In raynaud's disease, smaller arteries that supply blood to your skin narrow, limiting blood circulation to affected areas. This can cause the symptoms of tingling and coldness. While uncomfortable, it is not dangerous. ...Read more

Good Morning, I'm experiencing intermittent numbness in my right pointer finger at the tip. The nail bed becomes pale & lasts under 5 min. Thx?

Numbness=perception&: Complex with many possible reasons. However, pale vs. Pink nail bed always=result of color of red blood cells in capillaries close enough to surface to see. So if nail bed becomes pale (without outside mechanical pressure to oppose blood flow) this clearly represents a change in blood flow to capillaries in the nail bed, e.g. advanced arterial disease, Raynaud's syndrome, ↓ed O2, etc? ...Read more

Big toenails removed. Dr prescribed naftin (naftifine) 2% 45g for 8 months on the nail bed. That seems way too long. Box says 2 weeks. Thoughts?

Mycotic nails: Actually 8 months of therapy for a fungus nail involving the great toes is not a long time since it takes about a year for the nail to completely regrow. Topical treatments however have limited benefit. Oral antifungals like Lamisil (terbinafine) have produced better outcomes. Current literature supports pulse dosing over the course of a year. ...Read more

I dropped something heavy on my toe nail. The nail fell off and a new nail started growing into the tip of my nail bed. It hurts. What should I do?

Callus: The tip of the nail bed can sometime have a callus that interrupts the path of the nail growth. It may be prudent to trim away at the callus at the tip of the nail bed. However if the nail is now growing directly toward the base of the nail bed, then you may need to see your local podiatrist for specific treatment options. ...Read more

I've had a dark horizontal line across the nail bed of my second toe. I thought it was just an injury at first but it's been there for a few months?

Options: One option may be letting it work its way out if there is no infection., The other is to have it surgically removed by creating a small V in the nail and directly removing it in an exposed position. Forceps have a tendency to advance foreign bodies. Keep the area clean and make sure immunizations are current. All the best. ...Read more
