Yes: Papillary thyroid carcinoma (if i understood the diagnosis correctly) may metastasize to lymph nodes on the same side of the body and on the opposite side as well. This particular type of cancer has a high rate of lymph node metastasis but the prognosis is still very good, especially in younger patients. It can also spread to other organs (lungs, bones, brain). Oncology consult is a must. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I have calcification on my thyroid and some in my neck mass. When i did my fna, the doctor only sampled the thyroid. Why not the mass? Same finding?
It depends,,,: It depends on other tests and what they showed if the doctor did them. For example, an iodine uptake test may be done for a thyroid with nodules and depending on the results there may not have been a need for an aspiration of the nodule. It also depends on what was being looked for, cancer or another disease so more info. Like the aspiration results is likely needed. Best of luck. ...Read more
I have a large benign mass that i'm having removed along with right thyroid next month, now my leftside of neck is hurting me and hurts to swallow?
I have a mass and several hard nodes in my neck. Nodules on my thyroid no infectuon or autoimmune disease. But tell me its "nothing". Any advice?
Biopsy?: There are many causes of lumps or nodules in the neck/thyroid. For the thyroid, they may be monitored over time by ultrasound and/or biopsied so that microscopic tissue can be examined (for possible cancer). Protocols for evaluating these are pretty straight forward, but if you have questions for your doctor, then please ask. Sounds like more info about your work-up might put your mind at ease. ...Read more

2.0cm x 1.5cm hard nontender mass. Right side of neck. Nauseated fatigued night sweats. No thyroid. Could this be cancer? TSH 273.4.
Get it evaluated: Hopefully, it is no reason for concern, but such a mass should be evaluated by a doctor. Fatigue and night sweats are common symptoms of thyroid disease, as well as lymphoma. A TSH of 273.4 definitely warrants further evaluation and treatment. It is always better to know a diagnosis than to worry about the worse. Knowledge is power, power to take the correct action to take care of your health. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
