Thyroid Nodules Masses Swelling Of My Throat
I woke a few days ago with pain and swelling on the lower front of neck. I can feel restriction wben swallowing. Could my thyroid nodules be reason?
It is unlikely: It is unlikely for a thyroid nodule to cause pain and swelling. Pain/swelling in the midline front of the neck may represent thyroiditis, inflamed thyroid gland, or superinfected thyroglossal cyst. However, if you feel any lumps that are getting larger, or have been in your neck for longer than 2 weeks, see your doctor right away, as this can represent infected or possibly cancerous lymph nodes! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Swelling is the enlargement of organs, skin, or other body parts. It is caused by a buildup of fluid in the tissues. The extra fluid can lead to a rapid increase in weight over a short period of time (days to weeks). Swelling can occur all over the body (generalized) or only in one part ...Read more
I have a 3.5cm thyroid nodule with lower neck swelling, but normal TSH, T3, T4 blood levels. What could be causing this?
Goiter or Cancer?: A Thyroud mass can be benign in which case it is called a Goiter. There is about 10% risk that it can be a cancer. You should see your physician for further trests such as an ultrasound and or a Needle biopsy. Blood tests only show if your thyoid functions are normal or not. Since these are normal, you now need to go to the next step of further evaluation to find the cause of your Thyroid nodule. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

See endocrinologist: Maybe. There are a lot of possibilities. You need thyroid function blood tests. Perhaps an ultrasound with biopsy. This could be simple, or it could be complicated. Best to see an endocrinologist to sort things out. As a 19 yo woman, odd are in favor of autoimmune thyroid disease (hashimoto's thyroiditis or graves). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Thyroid nodule is pushing on my throat, coughing, hard to swallow, feels awful. Dont know size yet, but what indications would it be removed?
I have been experiencing a fullness feeling under my chin, almost tightness that does extend down the front of my throat. I have thyroid nodules but feel this might be too high in the throat for them. Going for an u/s scan tomorrow of thyroid to be sure
Thyroid Nodules: Thyroid nodules are very common. About 1 in 3 people develop them in their lifetime. The reason why we care, is that (in general) 5% of them turn out to be malignant. We also worry if they start to grow & put pressure on other structures in the neck, or become autonomous/overactive. An u/s will be helpful to evaluate. You should also discuss with your Dr. about checking TFTs & Thyroid Abs. ...Read more

You : You should have no serious problems from fine needle aspiration biopsy but if you have continued pain or swelling call the doctor who performed the biopsies. You might be achy for about a day. You can feel pain in the ear because of how your nerves work even though it was your thyroid and your ear was not biopsied. This is called referred pain. Sometimes people will tense their neck muscles because of pain elsewhere in the neck. I hope you feel better today and the biopsies are all negative (no cancer). ...Read more

Hello i recently found a lump on my neck i went for ultra sound and it confermed a thyroid nodule size 2cm by 3 CM non cystic and hypervascular ?
Biopsy: Hi. Assuming your thyroid function is normal (not hyperthyroid), the thyroid nodule you describe needs fine needle aspiration biopsy for cytology (and hopefully genetic testing) to see if it's cancer. If it's not cancer, you can leave it in and just follow it, and thus avoid surgery for a non-cancerous tumor. I have to assume that whoever ordered the ultrasound has told you that you need FNAB. ...Read more
Generally not: Look for other causes. One uncommon cause is vocal cord dysfunction, which can feel just like an asthma attack, but is not relieved with inhalers. Esophageal spasm is another cause. Getting stuck on a preconceived diagnosis prevents the proper one from being made. See your doc, and describe your symptoms in detail to him, in order for the proper diagnosis to be made. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Thyroid nodule: Lymph nodes in the neck frequently swell and then regress during minor viral illnesses. So this may have nothing to do with a thyroid nodule. However, that thyroid nodule should be worked up. Ideally with an ultrasound-directed biopsy and you should be seen by an endocrinologist. A thyroid cancer can spread to lymph nodes, although the more likely explanation is a virus. ...Read more
