solid thyroid nodule was 3.3 last year now 3.5 cm. fna biopsy normal in 2011. should i be concern. endo said see me one yr with ultrasound. worried?

Thyroid nodule: You already know that the nodule was benign in 2011. 3.3 vs 3.5 cm is basically the same. Since you had the ultrasound, you should see your endo, and probably get new set of thyroid tests, but it does not need to be urgent if you are feeling well. ...Read more

Not likely: If it is solid and solitary, it is probably a neoplasm, most likely an adenoma. But it could also be cancer, so have it checked out. Even if it is, most thyroid cancers have excellent prognosis with surgical treatment alone. ...Read more

Probably not: This is a very complicated issue that we don't know the answer to yet. The nodule you describe does not meet the Kim criteria or the Society of American Endocrinologist criteria for FNA. It probably represents either follicular or Hurthle cell neoplasia which cannot be fully evaluated on FNA. Most likely if you have the biopsy, they will then recommend complete surgical excision. ...Read more

Thyroid nodule: Ignore potential cancer if the nodules are not growing. That said, you should probably see a thyroid surgeon. In m opinion, if the large nodules are stable you should have the nodules removed and you can relax. Please let me know what develops. ...Read more
