Could be either, or?: You are correct in presuming that typically swollen lymph nodes are due to an infection nearby. Bacterial infections may be more likely to cause this than viral, but both can do it. Laryngeal/throat infection more likely to cause than higher up sinuses. Watch these glands. If they don't resolve in 2-3 weeks, have your doctor examine you. Sometimes enlarged lymph nodes are tumor, not infection. ...Read more

Lymphadenopathy: Yes, with time, they usually will. If not, or if they continue enlarging, need to see your dr. Rule out mononucleosis and perhaps and HIV or even lymphoma if they do not decrease in size over the next few weeks. ...Read more

A curiosity...: ...but it sounds like your particular skin eruption is transient and can be relied upon to self-resolve. Suggest you take a picture next time and show your family doctor for piece of mind. Situational rashes as described can be seen in many settings and with variable clinical significance. ...Read more

Lymph nodes: Your doctor is correct in telling you that the nodes are due to a viral infection. Sometimes the nodes regress slowly and may take 6 months or loner to fisappear.
