Muscle Twitches (Definition)

The twitches you can see and feel in muscle are contractions of irritable muscle fibers. They are sometimes seen with muscle fatigue. I sometimes see young people with fasciculations who google the word and come in afraid they have ALS . There is also an entity called benign fasciculation syndrome that is sometimes accompanied by cramping. Caffeine and theophylline (in ...Read more

4 mo.of neck manual PT.since stopping, random muscle twitches/random prickling feeling that moves around.could this be due to nerves repairing from PT?

Unlikely: Muscle twitching that is random and prickling feeling that is random can have different causes Common ones can be irritation information or compression of nerves that supply had area body.. Also can be due to a neuromuscular seizure disorder. Physical therapy such as manual compression or constriction or manipulation of nerves or electrical stimulation can cause muscle twitches and prickling numb ...Read more

About 3 days after getting off ambien, (zolpidem) feb 15th i started to experience muscle fasciculation from neck and below, to calves. Persistent lying down.

About 3 days after getting off ambien, (zolpidem) feb 15th i started to experience muscle fasciculation from neck and below, to calves. Persistent lying down.

Unrelated: Ambien (zolpidem) withdrawal should not be associated with fasciculations. You may have "rebound" insomnia but should not have much of any other trouble directly due to stopping ambien (zolpidem). It does not bind to the receptor subtype that shows tolerance or anti-epileptic activity which is why it can be safer than older generation hypnotics. ...Read more

Lou gerhig disease can u have painless muscle twitches when at rest. And aching neck and shoulders and neck cracks and creaks? ?

Lou gerhig disease can u have painless muscle twitches when at rest. And aching neck and shoulders and neck cracks and creaks? ?

Yes, but: Lou Gehrig's disease is predominantly associated with weakness and muscle atrophy, and the fasciculations are associated with the rest. If you lack weakness, possibly the muscle twitches are benign fasciculations. The neck issues may be associated with degenerative changes, and ALS doesn't cause neck arthritis. ...Read more

Could arm muscle strain cause finger twitching and forearm fasciculations? Arm & Neck pain?

Could arm muscle strain cause finger twitching and forearm fasciculations? Arm & Neck pain?

Fasiculations: Fasiculations may be a benign finding but when localized to only one part of your body it might be a sign of nerve damage; you say that you are having arm and neck pain which raises the possibility that you might have irritation of one of cervical (neck) nerve roots. If present, it would also explain why you see Fasiculations. If your signs/symptoms worsen/ persists consider a visit to your MD ...Read more

See your physician: These symptoms may represent a specific kind of headache (migraine) or other neurological condition, seizure, referred neuropathy, etc. Keep a log of the location, timing, duration, characteristic, and intensity of these episodes and take the log with you to your physician. Numb patches on one foot and muscle twitches including in the eye.Concerned about MS but had normal brain and neck MRI and clean emg.Anxiety?

Well now...: This being HealthTap and not a doctor's office, you won't get an answer to what it IS, but normal MRIs pretty much rule out MS and a normal EMG/NCS rules out a large-fiber neuropathy. Not everything our bodies do has a precise name or explanation. Sometimes you have to take the practical approach: If it goes on for 1-3 yr without change or anything else developing, it's probably benign. ...Read more

Stiff neck/shoulders, fatigue, muscle twitches, ear/jaw pain and stiffness, headaches/head pressure, very sore muscles waking up. Lyme disease?

Not likely: You may have fibromyalgia. You need to discuss this with your physician and possibly see a rheumatologist. Your evaluation will include examination, lab studies and maybe imaging. ...Read more
