No: this medication is a synthetic Thyroid hormone which you need to survive. The levels should be monitored and adjusted by a doctor. It should not increase your Breast cancer risk. Not specific: The signs & symptoms of hypothyroidism are not specific for hypothyroidism (not a single one). Recheck your thyroid labs. If they're normal, your symptoms are due to something else. Having said that, I'm happy to do a trial of Cytomel with the Synthroid (thyroxine) in patients who want to try as long as I don't make them hyperthyroid. Some people report feeling better with comparable labs taking a little T3. ...Read more

Hypothyroid : No synthroid (thyroxine) does not cause those symptoms, you are describing hypothyroid symptoms. Synthroid (thyroxine) is used to treat hypothyroidism. I suspect that your symptoms are because you are not on enough. Go see your doc and get tested. ...Read more
