Check food labels: Could you be missing hidden gluten. Are you careful going out to eat (foods that are gluen free that are cooked along side gluten containing foods)? Your doctor could check antibodies to see if your celiac is under control, if not you may be unknowingly eating gluten. ...Read more

Probably not: Cause of mucus in stool usually secondary to an inflammatory process such as colitis. This could also causes loose stools. Most Ca's are asymptomatic when small. As they get larger they obstruct , bleed and occasionally perforate. Colonoscopy can easily define problem. ...Read more

Anemia : With crohn's disease the autoimmune process may create destruction of rbcs in the bloodstream. More importantly you may have occult blood in the stool (not visible grossly), and may develop progressive anemia. See your GI doctor. There are other causes for this but too complex to discuss here. Bleeding, pain: Intl hemorrhoids can give u bleeding with a bowel movement, blood on the toilet paper or in the bowl. Other things that could cause bleeding are best evaluated with colonoscopy. Usually you would get this at 50 years old. But if there is a strong history of colon ca in the family you should get a scope 10 years before the age at which the youngest realtive got ca. Ask your doctor: to do a stool culture &check blood in stool too. You won't know until you go. Also make sure your diet is 'clean;' no fried foods, processed, dairy, wheat, sugars, sodas, desserts & other irritating foods. Your colon health is critical.You're 2 young to have CA, but you could have irritable bowel or inflammatory bowel disease if you let it go. So check it out & feel better!
