Post-nasal drip...: It sounds like you have a post-nasal drip which is causing bronchospasm which in turn causes the cough. A prescription steroid nasal spray in addition to antibiotics if your doctor thinks you have a sinus infection may be needed to get this cough under control. May be a virus - but: For significantly sore throat w/ swollen tonsils/lymph nodes – see physician & get a strep throat test & culture. Antibiotics are imperative for strep throat.
