Post-nasal drip...: It sounds like you have a post-nasal drip which is causing bronchospasm which in turn causes the cough. A prescription steroid nasal spray in addition to antibiotics if your doctor thinks you have a sinus infection may be needed to get this cough under control. May be a virus - but: For significantly sore throat w/ swollen tonsils/lymph nodes – see physician & get a strep throat test & culture. Antibiotics are imperative for strep throat. Try saltwater gargles. Mix tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w/ this several times/day. You can gargle w/ Aloe Vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w/ honey & a small amt of lemon juice helps. ...Read more

Have flu/cold. Avelox 400 mg, 4th day, 2 litres of water plus 2000 mg vitamin C daily,  bed rest 1 wk, but throat still hoarse, yellow phlegm. Why?

Not a cold: avelox is not a good antibiotic for the throat nor if as cold
Likely a penicillin, cephalossporin or a macrolide would be betr if required.
Criteria are for pharyngitis if fever, nodes & throat secretions then antibiotic if 1 of 3 no antibiotics required
