Antibodies to thyroi: These are antibodies to the hormones of the thyroid, called antithyroid antibodies. They often are present with an inflammation of the thyroid called hashimoto's thyroiditis. Get your doctor to measure these along with T4 and TSH to assess thyroid function. ...Read more

Tt papillary cancer and hurtle cell. Recent blood work TSH. 59 total T3 (liothyronine) 64.7. Free T4 1.5. Thyroglobulin antibodies 1.5 what does that mean?

Thyroid cancer: Your dose of synthroid (thyroxine) should be adjusted such that your TSH is suppressed, and yours is about right, although your endocrinologist may increase your dose slightly. Thyroglobulin is a marker of recurrent cancer, but thyroglobulin antibodies can interfere with the assay. This is complicated. You need to discuss all of this with your endocrinologist. ...Read more

Anti thyroglobulin 14.4 u/ml threshold 115. Are these normal results?

Yes: Anti-thyroglobulin antibodies are usually reported as international units (iu)/ ml. Abnormal levels can be seen in autoimmune thyroid disease such as hashimoto's or grave's disease, but are a nonspecific finding in many people, especially as one gets older. Having these antibodies does not necessarily mean that you have any significant thyroid disease. ...Read more

What does your thyroglobulin level mean?

Have thyroid tissue: Thyroglobulin is made in thyroid tissue.
It is useful only in patients who have had a total thyroidectomy with or without a mop-up dose of 131i for thyroid cancer. If thyroglobulin levels are still present it means there is thyroid tissue left (normal or cancerous). No thyroglobulin afterward that means a good job by the surgeon/nuclear technologist. If negative and then positive=recurrence. ...Read more

Not well, enlarged thyroid, two benign nodules that are autonomous, TSH low, T4 low end of normal, thyroglobulin antibodies present - thoughts?

Suggests autoimmune: Your symptoms and lab values suggest an autoimmune inflammatory problem. You need expert evaluation and should see a qualified doctor as soon as possible. Doctors that specialize in thyroid disorders are endocrinologists. However, many medicine doctors from family medicine and internal medicine are very adept at helping with thyroid disease. ...Read more

Read this on my lab report "low positive thyroglobulin antibodies are seen in assymptomatic population" what does that mean in real terms?

Not diagnostic: In general, lab tests are used to support a clinical diagnosis and thus a positive test per se does not provide a diagnosis without abnormal physical findings or symptoms. On many occasions, an abnormal lab test is not associated with any disease condition especially when the value is only slightly abnormal. If you do hundreds of tests on a healthy person, you will likely find something abnormal. ...Read more

Antibody: Anti-thyroglobulin is an antibody directed at the thyroid gland can be cause foe hypothyroidism. The thyroid contains sequestered proteins. 35 f fertility dr tested thyroglobulin. It was 78.5, normal range 0-55. Ab normal. What could this mean?

Depends: Thyroglobulin is the protein used to make thyroid hormone. It is a normal component of the thyroid and, in someone healthy, checking thyroglobulin level does no add information. In someone who underwent thyroidectomy, the level should be very low if the surgery removed the whole gland. The antibodies are used as marker of autoimmune thyroid disease. ...Read more

What is a normal thyroglobulin level? Mine says 15 H then the antibody <1.8

OK: Thyroglobulin level is only useful if you are monitoring for thyroid cancer recurrent or just prior to surgery to evaluate the baseline tissue burden. If you still have a thyroid gland and no nodules or suspicion for cancer, I don't see the reason to check thyroglobulin. Thyroglobulin antibodies are antibodies to the thyroglobulin. This number is supposed to be negative <1.8. ...Read more

Thyroxin binding globulin mine is 19 new dr checked it what's is the difference to thyroglobulin? Mines 19 but tg is. 6.

Unusual measurements: Tbg increases with Estrogens and other conditions and increases the total t4. However, all this is irrelevant if your doctor measures free T4 and tsh, which accounts for thyroxine binding. I do not understand why your doctor is measuring tbg. To assess the thyroid status of someone who has had a thyroidectomy and is on synthroid, all you really need is a tsh. ...Read more

What does a thyroglobulin look for specifically? Reoccurrence of thyroid ca?

Thyroid ca thyroglob: If you had a total thyroidectomy followed by RAI, there should be no thyroid left-neither normal thyroid nor cancer. Thyroglobulin is made by thyroid (both normal and cancer) and therefore is a good marker for cancer recurrence. But if there is still normal thyroid left, thyroglobulin cannot be used as a tumor marker. ...Read more
