Depends: This really should be examined in person, and is not suited to a internet diagnosis. Depends on injury, was thumb jammed? If so, possibly compressed structures in bones of hand/wrist and sometimes wrist inflammation turns inward not outward and that is something to seek care for, as entrapment of neurovascular elements within the wrist can be a real problem. Suggest see md/orthopedist. Good luck.
Jammed thumb during wrestling mild pain and swelling on metacarpal and on bottom half of thumb stiffness in thumb what could be wrong with it?
MCP joint inflamed?: The area you point is the joint area between the proximal phalange of thumb and the head of 1st mc bone. Stiffness could be due to strain / sprain of the supporting structures around the joint like ligaments, joint capsule, tendon inflammation without injury to bones. There may be a small crack fracture, partial / total dislocation of jt. Need to see ur dr, get xray. Do hot compress, pain meds.

Thumb pain at base of thumb and some on inside by ucl. Unable to pinch or hold a cup etc. Had gamekepper surgery 2 times. What's wrong?
In anyone with UCL: Tear of the mcp joint of the thumb) 2 prior procedures with pain perhaps the stability that was needed just oculdnt be attended. I assume base means the mp jointnad not thereal "base: as in the cmc joint. Damage to the joint from the orignal traumatic episode may preclude complete relief of pain. With good stability then it deends upon how much pain before fusion but hard to rec at age 19.
Not normal: The opposable thumb is what makes us unique. The multitude of muscles, ligaments, bones, and nerves that supply the thumb need to work in union in order for it to function properly. Scar tissue from a partial ligament tear, malalignment, nerve compression, hairline fracture may be the reason it continues to bother you. You should seek medical attention if this continues to persist.
Try few things, 1st.: Localized, unilateral joint/muscle pain has a variety of causes, most likely some kind of trauma, repeated movements leading to mm strain, early osteoarthritis--old bone or degenerative arthrittis-- at base of thumb is very often the joint first affected. Rest it (play piano, use computer or texting a lot?), ice it, perhaps anti-inflammatory (advil, alleve), for a week. If persists, check w doc.
See your doctor: These symptoms can only be adequately diagnosed only after a thorough evaluation by your doctor. This may include labs and other satudies. Once all of the information is in, your doctor can let you know what's going on, and what to do to help you.
Thumb pain. 2.5 years ago surgery to repair ucl ligament. Complete tear. Lots of pain now. Cant pinch hold cup press down what's wrong y does it hurt?
Not sure: But I would first get an x-ray to check the joint first.
Vein: Hand has a lot of superficial veins. Sometimes they are traumatized by routine things we do. This small vein can clot off and occasionally calcify. They often occur in locations that sustain a lot of use or minor trauma. Try padding the area with a bandaide. If it continues to hurt, they sometimes need to be removed.
I have developed thumb pain due to golf playing. I have given rest for 3 months but it still comes off and on. What should I do?
Splint, rest, meds: This type of pain could be due to several problems. Tendinitis is possible and can be treated with a splint to rest your thumb, application of heat, and medication like advil of aleve (naproxen). Other possible causes include arthritis of the joint at the bottom of the thumb. If the above does not help, get it checked out by your doctor or a hand surgeon.See 1 more doctor answer
