I am software developer,recently had really bad tendinosis on right thumb base,with fluid around thumb tendon.How can I prevent from getting it again?
Decrease use: Hi If it was the result of overuse, like from too much typing on the keyboard, then the best thing would be to try and take regular breaks during the day, decrease overall use, and maybe try a different keyboard wrist support. Xray for answer: A simple Xray would determine whether or not you have a fracture at the base of the swollen thumb. Direct palpation (squeezing) of the bone suspected to be fractured is also a great clinical way to determine presence of a fracture. gently squeeze injured bone in a grid type fashion with opposing thumb and index finger. You have: strained (hopefully not torn) ligaments attached to the muscles responsible for the flexion (bending...grasping) of your thumb.
