Why do I have a lot of mucus or phlegm after eating cereal and cookies ? Should I cut down the consumption of gluten?

Why do I have a lot of mucus or phlegm after eating cereal and cookies ? Should I cut down the consumption of gluten?

Elimination diet: "Gluten enteropathy" or "celiac sprue" is an autoimmune response to gluten which causes delayed intestinal problems. Wheat ALLERGY, on the other hand, can cause immediate symptoms like mucus and phlegm. Eliminate wheat, barley, oats and rye from your diet for a while. Then reintroduce them one at a time to see what products provoke your symptoms. More info @ MayoClinic.org/disease-conditions. ...Read more

Lots of options!: There are countless healthier options then cereal in the morning. First, any food can be eaten at any time of the day BUT if you are looking for something more "traditionally" breakfast food consider - fruit, toast, eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese, whole grain waffle with fruit spread, etc. You may also want to try almond milk instead of cow's milk. Have fun with variety :) ...Read more

What causes a productive cough after eating? For the past few days, about 10 minutes after every meal, i cough up a large amount of phlegm from lungs

Acid reflux: Acid reflux, also known as gerd, which is very prevalent in overweight people especially (with 60% of americans being overweight, of course). Constant acid coming up from the stomach causes irritation that induces the formation of mucous, constantly trying to clear by coughing. Reflux is increased with smoking. See doctor for management of condition. ...Read more

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 2 years ago now.. Im fighting a lot of issues with it. But now i cough up phlegm after eating anything! help?

Postnasal drip/GERD: The problem you are having has several possibilities depending on how long after eating this occurs, position you are in, and the color/consistency of the phlegm. Food increases acid reflux which with/or without diabetes can lead to the pipe from mouth to stomach getting scarred and uncoordinated which can lead to your problem. Do not lay down after eating, eat small portions, bland food. See md. ...Read more

Lately after eating i get phlegm-like fluid in throat, cough a bit and get palpitations sometimes, not sure if related. Any causes of these symptoms?

Phelgm in throat: Your symptoms are suggestive of gastro-esophageal reflux disease (gerd). Speak to your physician (p) about it. If you have no physician, consider taking prilosec, 20 mg daily. If that does not help, see a p for a diagnosis and treatment plan. Good luck. ...Read more

My TSH is 0.25(l)after eating my throat get irritating &phlegm stuck in my throat.Wat I have to eat to get normal.I could'nt sleep feel heavy breath?

Not related: I'm not sure if your throat issue has anything to do with your thyroid. Your TSH is low, but looks as if you just changed dose from 100-->75mcg. I bet your throat issue has more to do with allergies or asthma or some other condition. I see you are on prednisone, maybe related to that condition? See a doctor for throat and neck exam and evaluation. ...Read more

My TSH 0.25 after eating transparent phlegm created in my throat it is worse to take breath normally, what I have to eat to get normal TSH .

My TSH 0.25 after eating transparent phlegm created in my throat it is worse to take breath normally, what I have to eat to get normal TSH .

TSH & levothyroxine: 1st, phlegm (regardless of color) has nothing to do w/your tsh. 2nd, what you eat (short of seaweed w/lots of iodine) won't really affect your tsh. So TSH was initially 27.95, then you were given levothyroxine (t4) 100mcg. You must've had another TSH which is why T4 was decreased to 7mcg after which point TSH is now 0.25 (3rd value), presumably higher than 2nd value. Your doc will decrease T4 more. ...Read more
