Throwing Up Blood Causes
Had a total thyroidectomy due to cancer. Now have pain on right side above chest with bloody stool and throwing up blood. Is the cancer causing it?
Seems unlikely: Hi. Was your thyroid cancer treated (surgery, radioactive iodine, TSH suppression)? What is your thyroglobulin (stimulated, and with TSH suppressed)? Not clear where your pain is; is it in the neck? Can you feel a mass? I think I can pretty well guarantee you that vomiting blood and having bloody stool have nothing to do with thyroid cancer. See your doc about the bloody vomit & stool & neck pain. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

My girlfriend went to the doctor. She was throwing up and spitting up blood. If she got pregnant while taking her birth control can it cause this?
Pregnant/vomiting: Pregnancy can cause the severe vomiting, and if you throw up hard enough or long enough, there can be a little blood associated with it if you cause little tears at the bottom of the esophagus or irritated lining of the stomach. It likely has nothing to do with her having been on birth control, and everything to do with her vomiting a lot because of the pregnancy hormones. Needs to see OB for help. ...Read more

Stop worrying ;: Encouage him 2c urologist. Few drops of blood after urination in a young man suggests urethrorrhagia, urethral stricture or prostatitis. Cancer, presenting in this way, would be very rare. However, never say never ; thus consultation with urologist, who will likely advise a cystoscopic examination, is advised. ...Read more
