Second, if it were due to heart failure, it would likely be on both sides, and then would reflect problems on the right heart. An infection: It sounds like you have a viral or bacterial infection. Get a throat culture to make sure you do not have strep throat which is usually the only reason that you may need antibiotics for this. Not Sure: Prominent veins on the temple is common and not serious. It tends to run in families. They are more visible in fit people with fair skin. It is unusual for them to pulsate.
