Tonsillopharyngitis : Since this has been going on for a couple weeks, bacterial infection is more of a possibility. The infection could involve tonsils, most likely. Lymphnodes: Your symptoms as described appear to be possibly due to some underlying infectious process or something that would cause the swollen nodes, and now Shortness of breath. Possible Spasm: If you were not having concerning symptoms prior to the sneeze, you may have induced spasm of the swallowing tube, or esophagus. Some people do not allow themselves to fully express a sneeze. Holding in a sneeze may increase the likelihood of something like this. Probable VCD: Either two things are happening: 1) there is vocal cord dysfunction or 2) tension dysphonia. In vcd the vocal cords come together when breathing in instead of apart so there is difficulty breathing in often with cough and noisy inspiration. In td the cords work fine but there is too much muscular tension in the larynx so that with use there is hoarseness and voice fatigue. See ENT for diagnosis. ...Read more

Play nicely!: There's wide variation involved. Damage is unlikely from the pillow, but your muscle reaction/stress response may combine to make the area feel worse. If there are times it feels OK, that's good. (if not, see Dr) Aim to extend them intentionally. Use this breath pattern: In thru nose — hold in lung — FULL blowing exhale thru lips.
