Not sure whether you: Are describing a general sore throat or an area that is localized and looks like a "sore." Proper Technique: First gently blow your nose to clear it of mucus before using the medicine. Tilt your head forward slightly. Put the spray tip into nostril and aim slightly out (away from septum). Use the finger of your other hand to close off your other nostril. Spraying toward the septum or straight up can cause the medication to be swallowed. Sniffed too hard: 26 yo female prescribed nasal spray from doctor and now with unpleasant feeling of liquid running down back of throat. Nasal sprays only work well if patients use them properly.
