I have shoulder pain after playing tennis. I have been told this is a neck sprain. What should I do?
Stretch / PT / Yoga: Pain in a shoulder or arm can be the result of muscles or nerves being "pinched" higher up. We all tend to spend too much time on the computer (typing this answer!) - repeated use and underlying tension (not to mention disc disease) minimize the space through which nerves and muscles travel. Good "soft tissue work" either by stretching, getting physical therapy can help a lot. Yoga is terrific.See 1 more doctor answer

Neck Shoulder Sprain F/age 62. NP at clinic said m spasm. 2 weeks later still inner nerve type quivering from neck to left outer upper bicep all night?
Spine consult: You need a referral to a spine surgeon for X-rays of your spine to rule out vertebral fracture common in your age group and also a bone spur that can irritate the spinal nerve running from your spine to your bicep=radiculopathy. SSRIs and gabapentin good for this pain but if you have weakness surgery may be indicated for a herniated disc or compressed nerve. Stay calm and see spine surgeon.
Therapy/medication: Initially a short course of anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, and massage can help. Physical therapy can be prescribed to work on posture, gentle exercise, traction and modalities such as heat and ultrasound. See your physician if your pain lasts greater than 2 weeks.See 1 more doctor answer

Can lower back pain cause neck and shoulder pain? How can a sprain on one place cause sprain somewhere else?
Neck and Shoulder: Lower back pain does not usually cause neck and shoulder pain. They may be related to a common problem or completely separate issues. Best to be evaluated to determine. A sprain is an injury to a ligament. A ligament holds bone to bone. Injuring one ligament does not cause a sprain to another ligament unless there is trauma to both.
