Even : Even with the way the new tabs on caps are designed, children still swallow them. The good news is it appears that these type ingestions are much less dangerous than the previous snap taps. Swallowing the old caps required surgery. Often these tops don't cause serious problems and can be monitored conservatively without surgery until it passes. Often these won't show up on xray, so it can be difficult to ever know the exact location so doctors with wait and evaluate periodically to ensure the child has no symtoms or determine why it does not pass. However, she swallowed something and is now having pain. That is the point where a doctor following her would send her for further evaluation. . Since she is having pain, she could have aspirated or choked causing a pneumonia in her lungs or have it lodged in her stomach. I would advise you that you take her to the e.R to ensure the pain does not represent any type of injury or lodging in her lung or G.I. Tract. ...Read more
