Throat Pain After Sneezing
Severe throat pain when sneezing and unilateral throat discomfort when swallowing. Approximately 4 weeks duration. What is this?
Strep Throat: Typically, throat pain would not occur when sneezing. However, throat pain with or without swallowing might be due a throat infection; for example, strep tonsillitis, or another form of tonsillitis. Untreated or under treated allergic rhinitis or sinusitis could lead to a tonsillitis and hence sneezing is coincident to the sore throat. An exam with rapid strep test might help sort this out. ...Read more

Sneezing all day and have a sore throat. Just traveled. Not sure if it's allergies or if I'm getting sick. How would I know?
Past history: I suspect that you are more likely to have a cold (sore throat) than an allergic reaction especially if you had not experienced such symptoms frequently in the past. People respond to a cold quite differently with some having little or no symptoms and others bedridden from it. If you don't feel sick, don't worry over it. If you do, then it's likely a cold. ...Read more
Since a month I get daily a slight sore throat and I sneeze several times during the day, no others symptoms of flu, what should this be?
Possible allergy: Common symptoms of allergy are sneezing, itchy nose, nasal congestion and often post nasal drip leading to throat irritation. If an antihistamine helps the symptoms, then this supports an allergy. Neither colds nor the flu last a month. Sinus infections can feel like a cold that doesn't resolve. If continues, then an allergist can check for allergies. ...Read more

Been sick for a week, coughing, congestion, sneezing and sore throat, and today I discovered I might have a cold sore...does that always mean herpes?
Maybe oral herpes: Cold sore and oral herpes are the same thing. That doesn't necessarily mean the sore is herpes, but it certainly could be. Most people with oral herpes have had it for years, often without symptoms, and outbreaks can be triggered by other infections (hence the names cold sore and fever blister). I suggest immediate exam and testing of the sore for HSV1. If positive, you'll know for sure. ...Read more
