Is there a medication to treat thickened stomach wall due to chronic gastritis? Or treating underlying chronic gastritis is the only way to handle it?

Is there a medication to treat thickened stomach wall due to chronic gastritis? Or treating underlying chronic gastritis is the only way to handle it?

Treat the gastritis: The concern with gastric wall thickening is that it can be hard to distinguish from malignancy. There is no real problem with having a thick wall.......instead, the problems arise from the symptoms of the gastritis.
So, the single best thing to do is see your doctor. Get endoscopy with biopsies if needed. And get adequate treatment for the gastritis....and the symptoms you are having. ...Read more

Thickened stomach wall is seen via ultrasound. What is the best way of further investigation? Is it MRI, CT Scan or endoscopy?

Thickened stomach wall is seen via ultrasound. What is the best way of further investigation? Is it MRI, CT Scan or endoscopy?

Endoscopy: The MRI or CT scan will not allow physicians to see what the surface of the stomach looks like. Endoscopy is the only way that is performed. Also, during endoscopy, a biopsy may be obtained to determine (definitively) if there is any pathology (anything abnormal) in the stomach. Most likely, though, without symptoms, this finding (thickened stomach wall) is benign. Good luck, thanks for asking HT. ...Read more

I am a healthy 53 yo female. Every now and then I get a tight feeling in my upper stomach wall like something is pressing on it. It is not painfull.

Can you tell me about a tummy tuck to remove streth marks and loose skin and to repair a colapsed stomach wall was it?

Can you tell me about a tummy tuck to remove streth marks and loose skin and to repair a colapsed stomach wall was it?

Understand options: The best procedure depends on several factors. Liposuction only removes fat and it depends on intact elastic skin and good underlying musculature to achieve a satisfactory outcome. A mini tumy tuck will treat lax skin or scar as well as widened muscles below the belly button. If you have either of the latter conditions, a mini tummy tuck may be a better option for you. Migrating leads: I am not a surgeon but There are number of questions, is it still functioning properly? Where is the location now (can detect on xray and also see if there is perforation). In some studies migrating leads have been removed see below.,

Can thickened gallbladder wall cause nausea and fullness after eating and pain directly under breastbone in center of abdomen?

Can thickened gallbladder wall cause nausea and fullness after eating and pain directly under breastbone in center of abdomen?

Maybe: If your gallbladder has stones or sludge (which can lead to obstruction of bile flow out of the gallbladder, and cause thickened gallbladder wall), then you can have pain in that area, though it is generally in the right upper abdomen. Has the cause for your thickened gallbladder been determined? If not, I think you need to see your doctor or a GI specialist to figure that out. ...Read more

I recently had a CT scan w/ contrast of my abdomen which showed gastric wall thickening. My doc now ordered upper endosc. W/ ct. Possible cause?

One possibility: Usually "thickening" of the stomach gets reported to make sure stomach cancer (rare) doesn't get missed...Unfortunately the stomach has a wide range of normal appearances including "thickened" (relatively more common) so we are left with getting an upper endoscopy...Just to be sure everything is ok. It's hard to be more precise without seeing the images. Make sure you follow up with your doctor. ...Read more

39 yo male. Pain in the lower left quadrant of abdomen for 2 years. Ct scan unremarkable except shows bladder wall thickening. Could this be cause?

Depends: Focal bladder wall thickening or inflammation is not normal. If the bladder is not full, the wall will frequently look mildly diffusely thickened which is a normal finding. You should have your doctor review this with the radiologist. ...Read more

Strain: Severe strain with tearing of muscle fibers may take a little longer to heal. Rib fractures can also occur with hard coughing. At this time I would try intermittent heat to the area which may help the healing process. Hold onto the injured area if you must cough or sneeze and avoid other strain as well. ...Read more

Latest abdominal ultrasound reveals well distended gallbladder, fatty liver, mild gallbladder wall thickening. But lft normal. No pain. What can this mean?

Why did you get US?: If lfts are normal, and no pain, why get us?

Fatty liver means more fat stored in liver than normal, usually due to metabolic reasons - overweight, diabetes, alcohol overuse/abuse.

Gallbladder wall thickening is a weak sign of gallbladder disease in people with pain or tenderness - in this case it probably means the gallbladder could distend even more than it was. ...Read more

My abdomen ultrasound shows a 2mm echogenic focus ass't w the gallbladder wall thickening and it's sludging. Constipation problems since 2012.

Gallstone.: The report sounds like gallstone (echogenic focus and sludge) with some irritation of the gallbladder (wall thickening). If you have a fever, then this could also be infected cholecystitis, which your surgeon should remove. If not infected then you may be experiencing "biliary colic", caused by the gallstone. For constipation, eat more fiber rich foods. See your PMD if symptoms worsen. ...Read more
