Thick Placenta During Pregnancy
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
If a placenta was low lying during one pregnancy does it mean it will be low lying again for the next?
What does lowline placenta means during 13th week of pregnancy. Is it safe to take 2hrs flite after icsi?
Likely okay...: A "low-lying" placenta is not uncommon early in pregnancy and, by itself, is not a big concern, especially if you are not having any bleeding. (may be reasonable to avoid sexual intercourse until it moves, ask you healthcare provider.) regarding the procedure you had, and taking a flight, to be safe, I would consult your obstetrician or midwife. ...Read more

During my 1st pregnancy my placenta was infected with gbs and I lost the baby at 31wks. I am on my 2nd pregnancy when can I be treated for gbs?
Not until 35wks: All pregnant women should get tested for GBS, group B streptococcus, at 35wks. It's not an infection; just colonizes the vagina. If it gets onto your baby as it passes through the birth canal, it can lead to sepsis (whole body infection) -- so if you have it and you're going into labor, you HAVE to be at a hospital to get IV antibiotics (PCN). Can't do anything about it before labor. No symptoms. ...Read more

Can taking too many Tums (calcium carbonate) during pregnancy cause aging of the placenta, or calcify the placenta?
No: Not that I know of. Granted there is calcium in Tums, but a lot of women take calcium in pregnancy and, for the most part, your kidneys are going to filter out and pee out, excess calcium. Having said that, it's always possible to overdose on any medication, so I would not take more than is recommended. If Tums isn't helping your gastric reflux, then consider taking Zantac (ranitidine) or Pepcid. ...Read more
