Normal finding: I am amazed about how often patients ask me about the veins on their chest or breasts. Occasionally they are spider veins but mostly they are blue veins. These are almost always normal findings and normal variations of chest veins. They tend to be more pronounced in fair skinned people and they may be related to hereditary factors or levels of hydration. No treatment is necessary. ...Read more

I have a big vein in my lower left abdomen. Why only one side?

I have a big vein in my lower left abdomen. Why only one side?

Seek help: The isolated vein may be collateral venous drainage, especially if you have had previous blood clot in the left leg, involving the major portion called the iliac vein. The blockage of blood return through the iliac vein resulted in the body opening other channels for blood return. If you have not had a prior blood clot, it may not be significant . Seek help from your doctor. ...Read more

Do low INR levels cause portal vein thrombosis pain to return in upper abdomen?

Do low INR levels cause portal vein thrombosis pain to return in upper abdomen?

No but,,: A low INR is not a direct cause if pain. Does a mass in your abdomen cause one varicose vein in one of your legs?

Does a mass in your abdomen cause one varicose vein in one of your legs?

Abdominal Veins/Mass: Varicose veins are due to malfunctioning valves (reflux) of the saphenous system of veins. It would be most unlikely for an abdominal mass to cause varicose veins unless the mass is large enough to cause blockage of the deep system of veins on the same side as the varicose veins. An abdominal mass may cause deep vein system problems but not varicose veins. ...Read more

I noticed today a very prominant vein running above my right nipple. Is it normal for veins to appear out of no where like that? Could this be tied in anyway to the severe pain in the lower abdomen and pelvic area? I am also currently ovulating according
