A nerve conduction study may help determine if it is from a nerve compression issue like carpal tunnel syndrome, along with electromyogram it may help determine if there is a nerve compression near the neck. Possibility: Do you frequently wear high heels? Does the pain occur more when you're not in heels? Long-term high heel wear can allow tendons to toes and heel bone to shrink/shorten so that walking without heels stretches those tendons and causes pain.
